Airports: Gerona and Barcelona
The Rugged Coast, south of the French border, is aptly named for its rugged mountain valleys that cut to the tree-lined coastal coves with deep, clear water and unspoilt sand.
Three heavily developed coastal areas are Blanes, Lloret de Mar and Tossa del Mar. All three are very popular for Nationals and other Europeans with mass tourist hotels and apartments. The northern part of the Costa Brava contains the rocky and beautiful coastline of L'Escala. Cadaques is a beautiful isolated coastal village next to Port Lligat, the home of Salvador Dali before he moved back inland to his birthplace of Figueres (Figueras).
