NEW 1 BEDROOM APARTMENT, on the fist floor, over looking gardens, large communial pool, 2 seas within a minutes walk, (Mar Menor, one side & the Mediteranean the other).
At the far end of the Mar Menor beside the golden Costa Calida, Southeast Spain lies La Manga - a world of luxury, leisure and sport. Long warm summers that seem to go on forever and mild sunny winters make this a wonderful all year round destination for active or leisurely breaks.
The Mar Menor is the largest salt-water lagoon in Europe also considered to be the worlds largest swimming pool, (over 60 square miles) which is safe for all forms of water sport; it is non-tidal, crystal clear, and shallow never reaching more than 7 meters in depth and with average water temperature of 23 degrees
The Mar Menor is ideal. Lovely warm clear water with little in the way of waves and a very gentle slope meaning that children can safely play without fear of suddenly being out of their depth. This part of La Manga is peaceful, beaches of serene thermal waters, rich in iodine and salt minerals. The waters register a saline content of 50% (the highest in Europe) and are scientifically recognized as being therapeutic in the treatment of rheumatism, arthritis and many other ailments. Few places in Europe enjoy the privileges of this region, its climate, which has been recommended by the World Health organization as on of the healthiest environments to live in Europe. If you’re a lover of golf then at La Manga Golf Club. Situated at Los Belones just as you enter La Manga, this Club has three 18-hole courses set in beautiful countryside among the palms. It is also the headquarters of the European PGA. The Club also has tennis courts, swimming pools and a beach club at Mar Menor where one can enjoy all types of water sports and horse riding. La Manga means sleeve in Spanish and is an appropriate name for this narrow strip of land, 22 kms long, which nestles between two seas; the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor (the Little Sea). . At its narrowest parts it is only 100 meters wide and the maximum width is 1.5 km. There are over 44 km of beaches, narrower but with protected bays and coves on the side of the Mar Menor, and longer, wider expanses of pure golden sand fronting the Mediterranean. the European Community.
A PARADISE FOR NAUTICAL SPORTS Throughout the length of La Manga there are ten teaching centers (Escuelas de Vela) which means that no one need travel far to practice the water sport of their choosing. All of the centers offer the best and most up-to-date equipment with courses in sailing and wind-surfing tutored by qualified instructors who normally speak at least one language other then Spanish - normally English and/or German. Many of these schools also offer courses in the sailing of catamarans, canoeing, water skiing, and most other nautical sports including deep-sea diving. They are located on the shores of the Mar Menor in ideal conditions. Scuba and deep-sea diving have seen a considerable increase in activity during the course of the past few years. The presence of many underwater archaeological sites, sunken ships have turned the area of La Manga and Cabo de Palos into one of the most popular spots for divers from all over Spain. Diving clubs and schools exist both at Cabo de Palos and in La Manga and these organize courses throughout the year with daily trips by boat and offering equipment to rent for the newcomers. Apart from the water sports, La Manga offers a great variety of other activities. There are many Tennis clubs with courts open to the public all year round, plus paddle tennis and squash in addition to a roller-skating rink and full size go-kart track. The road, which runs through La Manga, has been built to offer the cyclist the safety of a cycle-lane and the absence of hills throughout the strip
